Spotlight Seems versatile ground-wise; Ballydoyle colt whose 1m4f form comprises a good third in the Derby and two notable wins, including the Irish Derby; creditable fourth (only a head behind Shin Emperor) in the Irish Champion Stakes most recently, shaping as if he'll relish this step back up in distance; rather lacks flair but has a gutsy attitude and should battle to the wire in this Arc attempt; enters calculations.

Spotlight Won the French Derby (10.5f, heavy) in ready fashion, taking his record to 3-3 and looking a leading Arc prospect; had excuses when beaten favourite behind Sosie and Delius in the Prix Niel over C&D since, as he was perhaps unsuited by change of tactics (made the running) and reportedly wasn't in optimum condition following a break; should be fully primed for this main target and remains of strong interest.

Spotlight Yet to encounter softer than good but his brother Sottsass won the 2020 Arc on heavy ground; good third in this year's Japanese Derby (sole 1m4f attempt) then filled the same position, catching the eye, in the Irish Champion Stakes where he finished nicely having met trouble 1f out; has been prepared with this prize firmly in mind and likely has more to offer back up in trip; could well give Japan a first Arc win after many attempts.

Spotlight Has two pieces of very hot 1m2f form, namely second-place finishes behind Ace Impact (subsequent Arc winner) at Deauville in August 2023 and City Of Troy in this year's Eclipse (soft); recorded an easy success upped to 1m4f in the Grosser Preis von Berlin (good) most recently and could well improve further kept to this distance; shortlisted.

Spotlight Has blossomed this year, winning two Group 1 races against her own sex, latest the Prix Vermeille over C&D (soft) in gutsy fashion from Aventure; runner-up in the King George and fourth in the International, both on good to firm, in between; has frame possibilities back against males.

Spotlight Frankel colt who ran well behind Sosie in the Grand Prix de Paris and Prix Niel over C&D (soft) the last twice, taking his form figures to 11132; still in only his first season, has progressive RPRs and may be capable of better still; solid-looking contender and represents a trainer who has landed two of the last four Arcs; one to consider.

Spotlight Daughter of Sea The Stars who won this race in 2009; fourth in the French Oaks then justified favouritism in Deauville Group 2 over 12.5f; good second to Bluestocking in the Prix Vermeille over C&D (soft) most recently; needs further progress to win an Arc but that's not out of the question.

Spotlight German colt who landed the Grosser Preis von Baden (good) five weeks ago, registering a second Group 1 win and taking his 1m4f record to 3-4; however, sole defeat at this trip came in last year's Arc when only 11th of 15, which suggests he's unlikely to make it second-time lucky.

Spotlight Criterium International winner at two; runner-up to Los Angeles in the Irish Derby, fourth in the King George and third in the St Leger since upped to 1m4f+ but those efforts, though honourable, suggest he's short of Arc standard; very wide draw doesn't help matters.

Spotlight Productive mare; five-time Group 1 scorer at 1m-1m2f, including last three runs (soft/good to soft); half-sister to several winners at about 1m4f and although sire's progeny are generally best at shorter he has sired an Arc winner; may stay the new trip but has the worst of the draw.

Spotlight Campaigned at about 1m2f this term, best form when winning Group 2 here (heavy) in April and second in the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot (good to firm); 3-3 over 1m4f/1m5f, albeit at a much lower level; faces a stiffer assignment back up in distance and wearing first-time hood.

Spotlight Ended last season in top form, winning the St Leger then good fifth in this race; hasn't quite reached the same level this year, notwithstanding a Curragh Group 3 success, and failed to justify favouritism in the Prix Foy over C&D most recently; yard has a bigger hope in Los Angeles.

Spotlight Consistent form at 1m1f-10.5f this term includes a success in the Group 1 Prix Ganay here (very soft); good second in Group 3 kept to Longchamp (soft) most recently; has won over C&D but he was a well-beaten outsider in this contest 12 months ago and remains short of Arc standard.

Spotlight Smart performer but has gained all wins over longer trips, including three Group contests at about 1m7f here (soft/very soft) this season; comfortably held in 1m4f Group 1 on penultimate start and likely to struggle in this prime race of its type.

Spotlight Close second in the French Oaks then went one better in C&D Group 2, both on good to soft; finished only seventh (well behind Bluestocking and Aventure) in the Vermeille since, spoiling an otherwise consistent record; faces a difficult task in this field, even granted a rebound.
